Elizabeth Fries Ellet (1818-1877) was an American writer, historian and poet. She is remembered as the first writer to record the lives of women who contributed to the American Revolutionary War. The papers consist predominantly of letters written between 1838-1858, and additional undated letters. Letters are both personal and professional in nature, with many relating to her work on The Women of the American Revolution.
