Walter Trampler (1915-1997) was an American violist of German origin. One of the defining figures of his instrument, he performed with the Beaux Arts Trio; the Budapest, Juilliard, and Guarneri String Quartets; and was a founding member of the New Music String Quartet. He was also a renowned teacher. His papers document his life and career, mainly from the early 1950s to the mid-1990s.
