Jacob (Jack) Charash (ca. 1880-1949) was a press agent, theatrical manager, dramatist, and translator of plays from Yiddish and German. He was co-founder and co-director of the Anglo-Jewish Theatre, a unit of the WPA Federal Theatre Project. Collection contains correspondence, contracts and agreements, and theatrical papers of Charash. Bulk of the correspondence, 1921-1949, consists of letters from various producers, actors and playwrights. Contracts and agreements are related to Charash's work as a press agent and literary collaborator. Theatrical papers include memoranda and clippings. less

Dudley Digges (1879-1947), an Irish-American actor, was one of the original members of the Abbey Players. He appeared on the stage and in more than fifty films. Collection consists of correspondence with prominent theatre people concerning subjects such as Digges's open-air theater in Patchin Place in New York City, his Theatre Guild work, and Ireland's push for independence, ca. 1920-1926. Correspondents include George Arliss, St. John Ervine, Sean O'Casey, Eugene O'Neill, Lady Augusta Gregory, Walter Hartwig, Polly and Sidney Howard, Helen Hayes, John Quinn, and Alexander Woollcott.
