Fred H. Wilson was a professional stilt-walker, who performed at fundraising events and in other venues in the New York area during the 1920s. Consists of eight letters written to stilt-walker Fred H. Wilson, most of which pertain to his annual performances at the New York Police Department's September Field Day event. There is also a letter from motion picture industry spokesman Will Hays, thanking Mr. Wilson for his performance at a charity drive. The Hays letter includes a tiny snippet of film printed onto paper stock, featuring several frames depicting a stilt-walker, presumably Wilson. There are also two letters from the Metropolitan Opera Company of New York, arranging Wilson's appearance in a 1924 production of Rimsky-Korsakov's COQ D'OR. less

The Don Redman Papers consist principally of holograph and printed music of this jazz composer and arranger, as well as some personal and professional papers. Redman's music contains orchestral and vocal scores and parts for various instruments. There is also music and lyrics by other composers most notably Tadd Dameron's "For Europeans Only." A ledger (1931-1932) lists members of the Don Redman Orchestra a.k.a. Don Redman and His Orchestra, for that period together with salaries, scheduled appearances and copyright information. Two scrapbooks document the activities of the Orchestra and other groups which Redman assembled for European tours during the 1940's. The collection also includes biographical information, programs, newsclippings, and an autograph book signed by celebrities. Of interest are two letters written by Louis Armstrong (1939, 1945), one mentioning two songs for which he wants Redman to make dance arrangements. less

Sophie Tucker (1884-1966) was a Russian-born American entertainer. The collection dates from 1908 to 1980 (bulk 1945-1962) and contains photographs, scores, clippings, and letters that Tucker wrote to her nephew, Ronald Green. The letters date from 1945 to 1962 and discuss travel plans, family events, and other personal matters. All of the clippings are mounted. Scores are published and date from 1908 to 1929. Photographs consist of portraits of Tucker alone and with other performers. less
