Currently known as the NBCL State Beauty Culturist Association of NY, Inc., this non-profit and professional organization of cosmetologists and barbers in New York is dedicated to education, values, and professionalism of the cosmetology and barbering fields. The association was organized in 1942 by Maude Gadsen (1898-1992), who also served as its president for 16 years. The organization sponsors an annual Maude Gadsen Scholarship luncheon, which honors community and professional people and gives a scholarship to a student in the field. This collection contains some correspondence, minutes, newsletters, and programs.
